The title of this work sprang into my head after composing the core loop of the piece late one evening. The sound of the loop instantly made me think of the phrase "the sky is falling," and how if the apocalypse actually came, one imagines it would be an experience of both terror and ecstasy for Christian fundamentalists who had anticipated the event all their lives. (Not being religious myself, I can personally only imagine experiencing the former).

Clearly though, the end of the world is an idea one doesn't have to be a scripture-quoting believer in order to be concerned with. The current moment is one that feels so apocalyptic that considerably diverse parties can feel it to be a nagging possibility - and yet, for completely opposing reasons. Few would argue that the "overwhelming deceptions" mentioned by the preacher at the beginning of the piece are actually taking place. The only question is who is perpetrating them.

This "preacher" version of "Look Skyward, End Timers" is offered as a free download. It will be included (without the preacher sample) in the upcoming full-length release from Dismantlists, "Pilgrims."
